Costa Rica Birding Packages

With almost 850 species of birds, Costa Rica has long been famous among serious bird watchers. One of the reasons for Costa Rica's extraordinary bird life is the country's great variety of habitats: rain forests, mangrove swamps, beaches, cloud forests, rivers, etc. And any two of those ecosystems, with their resident bird species, are often only a short distance apart.

Fortunately, Costa Rica's birds are not shy. Seeing them is relatively easy. Depending on the season, location, and luck, you can expect to see many dozens of species on any one given day. Many of the birding tours are guided bird-study tours, and the country is well set up with mountain and jungle lodges which specialize in bird watching programs.

Many species of warblers, flycatchers, vireos, orioles, etc. migrate to Costa Rica every winter. You will also have the opportunity to see some amazing birds which are associated with the tropics such as: parrots, parakeets, macaws, toucans, toucanets and the elusive but legendary quetzal. However, there are many others, equally impressive species flitting around, such as the motmots, with their distinctive racket tails; oropendolas, which build remarkable hanging nests; and an amazing array of hawks, kites, and falcons.

If you are looking for birds with magical colors then the country's tanagers, euphonias, manakins, cotingas, and trogons have some of the loveliest plumed creatures, but none of them match the iridescence of the fast flying hummingbirds.

Costa Rica Flexi Packages

This is a perfect package for those who like to take their own time to discover the beauty of Costa Rica. It is a self-drive package that allows you to decide the "when", "where" and "how long" every place will be explored.

Custom-designing your own itinerary is not the only advantage that Flexi-Program offers, you also receive better rates than if you were to book the hotels, rental car company directly and in advance. The Flexi-Program rates are lower than the rack or walk-in rates.

This is how it works!

On your arrival day a representative will meet you at the airport and provide transfer to your hotel in San Jose which is already prebooked.

The next morning a Daihatsu Terios 4x4 is delivered to your hotel by the rental company. You will also have a briefing meeting at your hotel with an experienced English-speaking guide who will provide your accommodation vouchers, answer any questions you have about driving in Costa Rica, discuss your travel plans, etc.

Then you are off to explore on your own! You go as you please, choosing hotels and lodges from the category you selected. There are over 158 hotels in the three categories covering almost the whole country. You can stay as many nights as you like in each hotel. The only condition is that you book as you go, no sooner than the morning of the day before. When calling or checking in, you must identify yourself as a client

In each main areas there is a choice of hotels and lodges, so if one hotel is full there is a very good chance that another will have space. If within the main area where you want to stay no hotels in your category have space just call and we will assist you in finding you an alternative in that same area or near that area.

At the end of your trip, simply drop the car at the rental company's office at the airport.

The Flexi-Program was designed to fit all budgets. Simply choose one of the following three categories that fits your budgetary needs:
